I had grand expectations after eating clean all weekend, skipping the booze, and getting some much needed rest. I assumed I’d wake up with lots of energy and today would be a breeze. Instead, I woke tired–and only slugged my way through the program to avoid social media humiliation.
My strides looked more like baby steps than running since my low back and hips were stiff and achy, and I had little energy. I tuned out the pained internal chatter by focusing on the scenery, waiting impatiently for the cue to “walk.” Then I struggled to catch my breath during each recovery period.
But I got through. And even though my ass isn’t any smaller yet, my heart and brain reaped benefits from the cardio, right?
